CTM runs at least one day departure (commonly around mid-morning to early afternoon) and one or two evening departures in the 19:00-21:00 window on this corridor, though exact times vary by day and season. Is it worth it?

If you're a genuinely budget-constrained traveler, comfortable with a long day (or night) of bus travel, and happy to arrange your own onward taxi from Erfoud or Rissani into Merzouga, CTM is a legitimate, safe way to make this trip. If you'd rather turn the road itself into part of the experience — seeing Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Gorge, and the desert villages in daylight, with someone else handling the logistics — a private multi-day tour covers the same ground far more comfortably, for a price that reflects a very different product rather than a direct alternative to the same bus seat.

CTM buses run daily on this corridor, but book a few days ahead where you can, especially in peak season (spring and autumn), since seats do sell out. Pack snacks and a refillable water bottle — food available at stops is fine but limited, and you don't want to be relying entirely on whatever the driver decides is a reasonable stop length.
