The honest answer is: not really, and it's worth understanding why before you go looking for one. Marrakech's economy runs heavily on cash, on souks where every price is negotiated rather than fixed, and on small, family-run businesses that don't have the back-office systems a branded gift card program needs. That's a very different retail culture from the one that made gift cards a default present in much of the West, and it means the concept simply hasn't taken hold here the way it has elsewhere — it's not that Marrakech is behind on some trend, it's that the underlying shopping habits are different.

Where something like a gift card does exist

Large international-style supermarket chains operating in Morocco, Carrefour and Marjane in particular, do offer store gift cards and loyalty credit, the same as their equivalents anywhere else, since they run the kind of centralized retail systems that make a gift card practical to issue and redeem. Outside of that, it's mostly a hotel and hospitality matter: five-star hotels and well-established riads will often arrange a gift package or a prepaid stay on request — a night, a dinner, a spa treatment — but this is usually handled as a direct booking or a bespoke arrangement with the property rather than a card you buy off a shelf. If you're gifting for someone staying at a specific hotel, contacting that hotel directly and asking what they can arrange is a far more reliable route than searching for a generic Marrakech gift card.

Why the souks don't work this way

Ask a shopkeeper in the medina about a gift card and you'll likely get a blank look, and that's not a service gap so much as a mismatch of business models. Prices in the souks are set through negotiation, transaction by transaction, and the margin a seller builds into that negotiation already accounts for the kind of goodwill a gift card discount would otherwise represent. A fixed-value card that could be redeemed against an unpredictable negotiated price doesn't fit cleanly into that system, which is a large part of why you won't find artisan shops, spice merchants, or independent boutiques offering them, even the well-established ones that have served tourists for decades.

What actually works if you're buying a gift

If the goal is giving someone a Marrakech experience rather than a card, the far more common — and more reliable — approach is to book something specific directly with the business and either pay in advance or arrange for the recipient to redeem it on arrival. A traditional hammam and massage session, a private cooking class, or a private desert tour all work this way: you contact the operator, agree on a date or leave it open, and pay for the experience itself rather than a stored-value card that could be spent on anything. If you'd still rather give something tangible

Physical, locally made gifts remain the default in Morocco for a reason: argan oil, hand-thrown ceramics, leather goods, and woven textiles from the souks travel well and carry more of the place with them than a card ever could. If you want to combine a physical gift with an experience, plenty of visitors buy a small handicraft during a guided souk visit and pair it with a booked activity for the same trip — a private tour, a hammam session, or a cooking class — which sidesteps the whole gift-card question by giving something the recipient will actually use on a specific day.

A few practical notes if you do buy a supermarket gift card

Carrefour and Marjane gift cards are generally valid for about a year from purchase and are meant for use within their own stores and affiliated locations, so check with staff at the till about any restrictions before assuming it works exactly like a card from home. International purchases of these cards from outside Morocco aren't a standard option — they're really designed for people already in the country to buy for someone else nearby, not for sending abroad.
