If you'd rather the evening didn't revolve around that, whether for religious reasons, personal preference, or simply travelling with family, it's a reasonable thing to ask about before booking, and Morocco as a Muslim-majority country makes it easier to find than in a lot of other places.
What's realistic to expect
Moroccan hospitality itself doesn't require alcohol — mint tea, coffee, and a proper Moroccan dinner are the actual backbone of any camp evening, alcohol or not. What varies by operator is whether alcohol is served at all on a given night: some desert camps sell drinks including alcohol as an optional extra, others don't stock it, and this isn't always stated clearly in advance. If an alcohol-free evening matters to you, the honest approach is to ask directly before booking rather than assume either way — including with us.
We don't build our Agafay evenings around a bar; a Moroccan dinner, mint tea, and a midnight toast with sparkling grape juice or an equivalent are the default. If you specifically need a formally halal-certified menu or a fully alcohol-free camp with no exceptions for other guests, that's worth confirming with us directly, since it may depend on who else is booked in on the same night — we haven't historically run this as a separately branded, privatized alcohol-free event, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than promise something we can't guarantee.
Practical things worth knowing
The desert itself offers real privacy for prayer if that matters to your evening — it's quiet, open, and away from the noise of the city. Overnight guests can see Fajr at sunrise with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. If you'd like a prayer mat or a compass on hand, mention it when booking. Nights in December run cool, typically 8-14°C, so warm layers matter regardless of the rest of the evening's plans.
