For Those Who Want More Than a Dinner

Every NYE camp in Agafay offers the same formula: arrive at 4PM, sit down for a camel ride, eat dinner, watch a fire show, count to midnight. It is a good evening. But if you came to Morocco for the desert, you want to feel it — at speed, in the dust, with the Atlas Mountains turning orange on your right and 30 kilometres of open plateau on your left.

Our Adventure NYE starts two hours earlier than any other camp. You arrive in the mid-afternoon, suit up, and spend the golden hour on quad bikes and buggies through the Agafay stone desert — the most dramatic light of the year, in the most dramatic landscape near Marrakech. By the time you sit down for dinner, your legs are dusty, your face is wind-burned, and you have already had a night most people never get.

Then dinner. Then Gnawa. Then midnight.

Why Quad and Buggy in Agafay on NYE?

Agafay is the perfect off-road terrain. The rocky plateau is open, undulating, and free of traffic — a natural circuit that stretches for kilometres in every direction. In December, the air is crisp, the sky is clear, and the dust catches the last sunlight in ways that look like nothing else.

Operators run quad biking in Agafay year-round. But no one has ever run it as the opening act for a New Year's Eve celebration. You burn the energy, you watch the sunset from the saddle of a quad bike, and you arrive at the dinner table already inside the experience rather than waiting for it to start.

The Activities

Quad Biking (1.5 Hours)

Individual quad bikes — one person per bike. Route covers the open Agafay plateau: rocky paths, gentle inclines, wide berms, and two panoramic stops for Atlas Mountain photos. Suitable for anyone who has driven a quad before; a 10-minute induction included for first-timers.

What's provided: Helmet, goggles, gloves, full-body protective jacket. Long trousers and closed shoes required (bring your own or notify us in advance for rental).

Minimum age: 16 years for solo riding. Ages 10–15 can ride with an adult on a tandem bike.

Pace options: Our guides offer two paced tracks — standard (relaxed, photo-friendly) and faster (adrenaline-focused). Tell us your preference at the start.

Buggy Racing (45 Minutes)

Two-seat side-by-side buggies — one driver, one passenger per car, and you can switch. More accessible than quads for those who prefer not to balance a two-wheeler. The buggy circuit is wider and uses more of the southern plateau. Faster than quad biking, more chaotic, and generally noisier.

Minimum age: 18 to drive. All ages as passenger.

Jan 1 Sunrise Quad Ride (Optional Add-On)

For overnight guests only. A 45-minute sunrise ride at 7:15 AM — early, quiet, and unlike anything else. The plateau is completely empty, the light is horizontal, and the Atlas Mountains are pink. This is offered to overnight guests as an add-on at 400 MAD per person.

Same high quality as our standard NYE dinner — not reduced to compensate for the activity cost.

Practical Information

What to bring:

• Long trousers (mandatory for quad biking — shorts are not permitted)
• Closed shoes — trainers, boots, or hiking shoes
• A change of clothes for dinner — you will be dusty after the rides
• Warm layers for the desert evening (8–14°C in December)

Dust: Agafay produces real dust. Your gear, your hair, your face — all of it gets dusty. This is the point. Wipes and a changing area provided at camp before dinner.

Alcohol: Bar available at additional cost. Mocktail options always available.
