Fes New Year's Eve: Private Transfer & Reserved Medina Gala Dinner
🌟 Overview
Fes doesn't have a Marrakech-style countdown square or a single obvious place to spend New Year's Eve — the night lives inside individual riads and restaurants, and the ones worth going to have limited seating that fills up well before December. This isn't a tour in the usual sense: it's us doing the two things that are actually hard to sort out yourself from abroad — securing a table at the right kind of venue for what you want, and getting you there and back through a medina where cars can't reach most front doors.
We don't run our own restaurant or have one exclusive partner we push regardless of fit. Instead we ask what kind of evening you want, confirm real availability at a matching venue, and handle the reservation and transfer end to end.
Tour Highlights
- A dinner matched to your style, not a one-size-fits-all package
- Private transfer that accounts for the medina's car-free lanes, not just a drop-off at the edge
- Written confirmation of your table before any payment
- A coordinator reachable on WhatsApp through the evening itself
Choose Your Style of Evening
Fes's New Year's Eve dinners generally fall into three formats, and we can secure a table at any of them once we've confirmed availability for your date:
Traditional riad gala — a full gala dinner inside a restored medina riad, live traditional music and belly dance, the most distinctly "Fes" version of the night. This is the format at addresses like Palais Bab Sahra.
Modern medina dinner — a more contemporary restaurant setting with a DJ and a live singer rather than a folk ensemble, for guests who want festive energy without a fully traditional program. This is the format at addresses like Isha Restaurant, typically around 1,190 MAD (~€100) for the set menu alone before our transfer and booking service.
Andalusian music dinner — a dinner built around Fes's own classical musical heritage, an Andalusian ensemble rather than a DJ or folk troupe. This is the format at addresses like Fez Café.
Tell us which direction appeals and we'll confirm real seat availability, the venue's exact current price, and lock in the reservation before asking for a deposit.
How Booking This Actually Works
- You tell us your preferred style (traditional / modern / Andalusian) and party size.
- We check live availability at matching venues for December 31st and come back with the exact current price and menu.
- Once you confirm, we secure the table and send written confirmation.
- On the night, your private transfer picks you up from your accommodation, and a porter or guide walks you the final stretch into the medina to the restaurant door.
- We stay reachable on WhatsApp for the rest of the evening in case timing or plans shift.
📅 Book by early-to-mid November if possible — the medina's best New Year's tables are gone well before December most years, especially for the traditional riad gala format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you own or exclusively partner with these restaurants?
No — we don't run our own venue, and we're not exclusive to any single one. We check real availability across a small number of vetted venues matching the style you want and book on your behalf, which is why we confirm exact pricing before you pay rather than quoting a fixed number upfront.
What if my preferred style is already full for December 31st?
It happens, especially for the traditional riad gala format, which has the fewest seats. We'll tell you honestly if that's the case and offer the closest available alternative rather than pushing a mismatched booking.
Is transport really necessary — can't I just walk?
Most Fes medina riads and hotels sit inside lanes cars can't enter, and finding your way through unlit, unfamiliar alleys after a formal dinner isn't something we'd recommend for a first visit. The private transfer plus porter handles that end to end.
Can this be combined with a Merzouga desert New Year's trip?
Yes — several guests do a Fes dinner as part of a longer trip that continues into the Sahara. Ask us and we'll help sequence it, though note the classic desert countdown happens on the 31st itself, so combining both in the same 24 hours isn't possible — this works best as Fes before or after a separate desert departure.
What's the cancellation policy?
Given how far ahead the good tables need to be secured, ask us for the specific venue's cancellation terms at the time of booking — they vary by restaurant.

Real reviews from Google and TripAdvisor
We traveled to Morocco in a group of 6 adults, including my parents, who are already seniors, in the middle of summer. For my family it was a leap of faith to trust an agency we found online for the first time, but it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Hamid, the trip organizer, was very kind and attentive both before and throughout the whole tour. It was a fully personalized tour - we got to do everything we wanted, from visiting the Sahara to enjoying the beach. He always looked out for our comfort, especially my parents': comfortable transport, well-timed stops at places with restrooms, beautiful air-conditioned hotels, and varied, plentiful food. Thanks to his organization we were able to enjoy the trip with real peace of mind. It was a great experience we would absolutely recommend.
Last week I did a self-drive trip from Fes to Merzouga, leaving the car rental, the riad in Merzouga, the desert camp, and the guided desert activities all in the hands of MerzougaWay and Hamid, and I can only say that everything was perfectly organized, right on time. Thanks to everyone at the riad we stayed at and the desert camp, as well as the guides who joined us for the 4x4 experience, Berber culture, and the camel transfer. Thanks to Hamid and MerzougaWay for that quad-bike ride back to the riad from the camp - what an experience, riding a quad across the dunes early in the morning. If you're thinking of traveling to Merzouga, I definitely recommend Hamid as the organizer of your adventure.
Excellent!! We loved the tour. Thank you Hamid for everything. Everything well organized, the guide Eljo (Elhousain) was very attentive, highly recommend. Everything super clean, we had a great driver, we felt very safe with him. Unbeatable desert excursion. Thanks MerzougaWay!
Trustworthy tour agency. I wrote Hamid what I wanted and he just made it happen. He arranged everything so quick and smooth. We had a 3-day Merzouga tour from Marrakech. Said was our guide and he made me and my wife very comfortable. He took us from our riad and carried us in his modern 4x4 Toyota to magnificent places. He gave us the confidence to ask him whatever we wanted to do and wherever we wanted to drive - like old friends. He is open-minded and respectful. I recommend asking the agency for Said to be your driver. In the 3-day tour you cross the Atlas mountains, stay one night in a perfect hotel in Dades with great food, then stay one night in Erg Chebbi dunes in a luxury glamp camp. One night wasn't enough for a real desert experience - if you have time, take two nights in the desert.
Unforgettable holiday. An 8-day itinerant tour in Morocco, including 3 days organized by Hamid - MerzougaWay: a route from Fes to Marrakech, spending a night in the desert and in Ouarzazate. Our guide Youssef, who drove us all along the way, was very professional and took us to try real experiences that not all tourists get to see. Breathtaking landscapes - Morocco amazed and fascinated us. We drove many miles but still traveled comfortably. Absolutely recommend it - they are a highly professional agency and managed to take us to unique places, like a Berber village in the desert where we were the only tourists. A spectacular, unforgettable experience.
Morocco from the heart with MerzougaWay. Heartfelt congratulations to Hamid, who organized our trip impeccably - present, correct, and extremely helpful. A special mention for our driver Ali, who was by our side through 3 intense days toward the desert: attentive, polite, discreet, and a genuinely good, nice driver. We found snow in the Atlas range and then sun in Ait Ben Haddou, visited women's cooperatives working argan oil and roses, saw the Dades Gorges, and finally reached the Sahara dunes by camel before sleeping in a tented desert camp. 3 intense and exciting days. Next time in Morocco I'll rely on you again, inshallah!
